Education
Training at the Institute for Humanistic Art Therapy (IHK) consists of three modular courses, all of which lead to a meaningful degree. The three courses form the IHK art therapy method training required for the federally recognized Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) in Art Therapy. The IHK also offers all other modules for this specialist examination.
Person-oriented painting therapy certificate POM IHK
At a glance
Students learn about the method of person-oriented painting therapy and how to apply it in practice. The IHK qualification enables students to work independently in painting therapy with children and adults in educational, psychosocial, geriatric and socio-cultural settings. The course concludes with the IHK certificate in person-oriented painting therapy. This certificate is the ideal prerequisite for running a painting studio for adults and children.

- 40 hours of self-awareness/teaching therapy internship of at least 100 hours.

Certificate Solution-oriented Painting Therapy LOM® IHK
At a glance
Students learn the method of solution-oriented painting therapy and how to apply it in practice. The IHK qualification qualifies students to work independently or as an employee in painting therapy with adults in the psychosocial field. The course concludes with the IHK solution-oriented painting therapy certificate.

- 9 course blocks of 2.5 days each (DO to SA) spread over approx. 15 months (170 hours attendance time).

Certificate work-oriented painting and design therapy IHK
At a glance
In the final methods module, students deepen their knowledge of person-oriented and solution-oriented painting therapy IHK. They can combine these in a therapy process according to the indication and deal with their application in a clinical-institutional context. The module also deals with the links with other art therapy approaches and current developments within the professional field of art therapy. In this way, participants develop their own tangible positioning in the medical/therapeutic environment.

Students are given the opportunity to get to know and try out a wide variety of artistic techniques and approaches, experiment with different materials and explore a work in depth.

- 4 block courses of 3 days each (DO to SA) and 2 museum visits, usually spread over a year.
- 100 hours attendance time, 300 hours self-study time, total 400 hours.

Module Psychopathology IHK

In the Psychopathological Basics IHK module, students learn concepts of psychology and psychopathology for assessing clients and their psychological stress.

- Two times 2 course days (course block 1 and 4), FR to SA.
- Two times 2 course days (course block 2 and 3), DO to SA.

IHK job role module

This module, which is required for admission to the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE), prepares graduates for professional practice in their own practice or in a healthcare or social services institution.

At a glance
The module "Medical Basics IHK" is carried out in cooperation with the training institute for complementary therapy "bekompetent". IHK students receive a 10% discount on the course costs for this module.
