The trainingTo date, over 1,000 people have completed the social counseling course at the School for Social Counseling, around 85% of whom are women.
The training prepares students for the Federal Professional Examination and lasts 90 days. A shortening to 65 days is possible for FaBe and FaGe. Suitability for this is assessed during the admission procedure.
Students who successfully complete the training and the Federal Professional Examination are awarded the protected title "Social Care Assistant with Federal Professional Certificate".

The focus of the trainingThe core element is the training sequence "Accompanying individuals". It introduces important models, methods and forms of mentoring:
Tapping into personal resources, conducting conversations, coping with overwhelming life and everyday situations, conflict resolution, self-empowerment and shaping the environment.

Fields of work
Social companions carry out lifeworld-oriented work with a focus on the outpatient social sector. They accompany individuals and groups. They take on social support assignments from private individuals, social services, guardianship and welfare authorities, institutions from the health and social sector, social psychiatry, the justice system, churches and other organizations.

Migration specialist course

The Schule für Sozialbegleitung Zürich has been offering the Migration Specialist course since 2019. It is a preparatory course for the Federal Diploma of Higher Education in Migration Specialist and is aimed at people who want to deepen their knowledge of migration/integration and asylum on a part-time and practical basis.

The entire compact course (all modules) comprises a total of 34 teaching days, which require attendance. In addition to these attendance days, e-learning assignments are completed. The modules build on each other, but can be booked individually if there is sufficient prior knowledge and places are available. Each specialist module ends with a certificate of competence.

Course for foster parents a course for foster parents with prospects

A practical and process-oriented educational program for nursing parents for the qualiﬁed education and support of nursing children.

The course covers all the central topics of everyday parenting. It is the only course in German-speaking Switzerland that offers this comprehensive qualification for care parents as a unit. The six modules are thematically coordinated and allow for a step-by-step structure. It enables participants to accompany their foster children sustainably, even in crises and critical life transitions. In addition to teaching theory, the course places great emphasis on learning from practical situations from the everyday lives of caregiving families. Completion of the course also allows access to the shortened preparatory course for the federally recognized profession of "Social Support Worker with Federal Diploma of Higher Education".

The course for foster parents comprises 16 training days (each on Saturday), spread over six focus modules and lasts 1 ¼ years. Partners can benefit from a reduced rate of 30%.You can currently book individual modules on the corresponding focal points of the modules.
