The HFHS is a College of Higher Education for Social Pedagogy in Dornach. The focus is on the federally recognized, practice-integrated training course in social pedagogy CHE, which can be completed in three years or, under certain conditions, in a shorter two years.
In addition to the CHE Social Pedagogy course, the CHE offers continuing, further education, conferences and in-house training. The content is geared towards practical concerns, with which the HFHS is closely networked. Theory, practice and artistic creation form the basis of the courses and the HFHS sees itself as a lively meeting place.

The three-year course in Social Pedagogy CHE was federally recognized by the State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation (SERI) on 27 September 2010.
The CHE Social Pedagogy CHE training program is based on the framework curriculum set by SERI in 2021 and the CHE school curriculum developed from it.

Shortened training in social pedagogy CHE
The shortened training course in Social Pedagogy CHE is for people with a relevant Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training and lasts 2 years.
The training course is under review and is offered every two years. Start of next implementation: 2025.

Continuing education, further training: Team leadership - preparation course for the Federal Professional Examination
This continuing education, further training is aimed at group leaders and other professionals who perform management tasks in their institution and would like to gain further qualifications for these tasks. It is offered annually by the HFHS.
The "Team Management" qualification is the first level within a three-level continuing education, further training model (2nd level: middle management; 3rd level: institutional management). The HFHS currently offers the 1st level.
