The sitem-insel School is the academic continuing education platform of the University of Bern’s Faculty of Medicine—located right in the heart of the Insel Campus in Bern, where cutting-edge medicine, research, and innovation converge. We bring together the brightest minds from science, clinical practice, regulation, and entrepreneurship to create continuing education, further training programs that specifically prepare professionals from industry, clinical practice, and academia for the challenges of tomorrow.
Our offerings are divided into three program areas:
Regulatory Affairs & Quality Management (Medical Technology)
Without in-depth regulatory expertise and robust quality management, no medical device can be safely brought to market. The CAS in Regulatory Affairs provides the technical foundations, the CAS in Advanced Regulatory Affairs delves deeper into specific, advanced regulatory topics, and the CAS in Quality Management ensures that quality is maintained throughout the entire product life cycle. All three programs can be combined into a comprehensive master’s degree through the MAS in Regulatory Affairs and Quality Management.

The CAS in Translational Medicine provides the necessary tools to translate research findings into clinical applications, while the CAS in Biomedical Entrepreneurship focuses on the entrepreneurial path to that goal—from the initial idea through financing to market readiness. Those who wish to explore both perspectives in greater depth can combine them into a comprehensive master’s degree through the MAS in Translational Medicine and Biomedical Entrepreneurship.
