Since September 1, 2020, OST has united the established Universities FHS St.Gallen, HSR Rapperswil and NTB Buchs to form a new, strong University of Applied Sciences in Eastern Switzerland. We are a dynamic, innovative university that strengthens Eastern Switzerland with forward-looking impulses and makes a significant contribution to the economic and social development of our region.

OST is the University of Applied Sciences of the six cantons of Eastern Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. With around 3,800 students in six departments, 1,500 professionals undergoing further training and over 1,000 current research projects, we are the educational hub of the region. The OST combines over 170 years of education and research tradition.

Offer

In a changing world, technical specialists are more in demand than ever. If you want to help shape the solutions of tomorrow as an engineer, you will find forward-looking degree courses at OST.

Our technical Bachelor's degree programs:

  • Electrical and Computer Engineering (previously Electrical Engineering)
  • Renewable energies and environmental technology
  • Machine Technology | Innovation
  • Mechatronics (previously Systems Engineering)
  • Industrial engineering

The Master's as an additional career driver:
After your Bachelor's degree, you have a choice: you can enter the professional world and work directly in teams with challenging tasks. Or you can deepen your knowledge with a Master of Science in Engineering (MSE). The MSE prepares you for positions of responsibility and opens up further career opportunities.

Choose from eight profiles in the technology area:

  • Business Engineering
  • Data Science
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Energy and Environment
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics and Automation
  • Medical Engineering
  • Photonics and Laser Engineering

From grammar school to the University of Applied Sciences?

Most of our students find their way to the OST via a technical apprenticeship with a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate. Cantonal students need experience from the world of work to start a practical course of study at a University of Applied Sciences. They can complete a one-year internship before starting their studies - or start the practice-integrated Bachelor's degree program (PiBS) directly after graduating from high school.
