What job grades are there at ASGS?

SUVA (Swiss National Accident Insurance Fund) organizes and coordinates the training of safety officers (SiBe) on behalf of the EKAS.

The tasks of safety officers vary according to company size, sector and job profile. SUVA distinguishes between four types or levels of safety officers:

  1. Contact person for occupational safety (KOPAS)Some industries (e.g. construction or gastronomy) have industry-specific ASGS solutions. The safety officers in SMEs that belong to such industry associations are the so-called KOPAS (contact persons for occupational safety). KOPAS ensure safety in the company in which they work and maintain contact with the sponsor of the inter-company ASGS solution.
  2. Persons with basic knowledge of occupational safetyThese are safety officers in SMEs that are not affiliated to an industry solution, as well as divisional safety officers in large companies. They support prevention, assess risks and coordinate the occupational health and safety of their employees or colleagues.
  3. Security assistants (SiAs)They organize occupational health and safety in their company and coordinate the deployment of ASAs when dealing with special hazards.
  4. Occupational safety specialists (ASA)They are the ASGS experts consulted by the first three groups. They include:

a) "Occupational Safety and Health Protection Specialist (ASGS)" - a professional examination leading to a federal specialist certificate

b) Safety engineers, occupational physicians, occupational hygienists, etc.
