Some Universities of Applied Sciences offer an UAS Health Care degree course in Nursing that is aimed exclusively at qualified nurses with an UAS degree, while other degree courses are also open to graduates with a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate, Specialized Baccalaureate or Baccalaureate, as well as holders of specific UAS or AFPE degrees (such as Podiatrist UAS, Druggist UAS, Activation Specialist UAS, etc.) who have completed a nursing internship before starting their studies. Yes, you must have previous knowledge in the nursing field in order to be able to start studying at a University of Applied Sciences in nursing. This means that you must either have a Specialized Baccalaureate or Federal Vocational Baccalaureate in Health, have already completed training at a College of Higher Education to become a qualified nursing specialist CHE or have a higher education qualification in nursing (PsyKP, IKP, DN II, KWS or AKP). If you do not meet any of these requirements, you can acquire the necessary knowledge in a structured practical year, which lasts 12 months and can be carried out in hospitals, homes, clinics or another equivalent institution in the healthcare sector. Such a practical year is suitable for high school graduates, graduates from a non-healthcare field and people with a Federal VET Diploma with Federal Vocational Baccalaureate.
