What is the vocational baccalaureate?

The vocational baccalaureate is a federally recognized qualification that combines basic vocational training with extended general education and creates various opportunities:

• It entitles graduates to study a related profession at a university of applied sciences.
• It creates a good basis for taking on more demanding tasks in the profession you have learned.
• Together with a subsequent Passerelle supplementary examination, it provides access to studies at teacher training colleges and universities.

The vocational baccalaureate course concludes with the Federal Vocational Baccalaureate Examination (EBMP).

Three paths lead to EBMP:

1. Individual, independent preparation and registration
2. Preparatory lessons during the apprenticeship (BM1)
3. Preparatory lessons following the vocational apprenticeship (BM2)

Preparatory courses are highly recommended for professionals who decide to take the vocational baccalaureate after completing their apprenticeship. These courses are offered by public and private educational institutions, are federally recognized and are precisely tailored to the requirements and objectives of the EBMP.
