The CAS in Soil Mapping / cartographie des sols (UAS) provides participants with in-depth knowledge of describing soils in the field and assessing their suitability for further development and agriculture. Graduates of the CAS in Soil Mapping / cartographie des sols are also able to create soil profiles in detail according to the Swiss soil classification and can carry out the recording, evaluation and digitization of a soil map under the guidance of a soil mapper.

A university degree is desirable for participation in the CAS Soil Mapping / cartographie des sols (UAS), but is not necessarily required, provided that the prospective students have adequate skills and experience. In such a case, specialists from planning and ecology offices as well as from the administration can also be admitted to the course after an examination by the course management. All participants are required to have a good knowledge of French and German as well as a sound basic knowledge of soil science.
