How well-known is the “Real Estate Trustee (AFPE)” certification among potential employers? How will this continuing education, further training benefit my career?

Real estate trustees are real estate experts who offer comprehensive, diverse, and professional consulting services. Their clients include individuals or groups of individuals, property owners, foundations, companies, and investors, whom they assist with all matters related to the purchase and sale, as well as the management, brokerage, appraisal, and marketing of real estate. They thus make a significant contribution to the success of the real estate industry, which is sometimes subject to significant economic fluctuations.

The Advanced Federal Professional Examination for Real Estate Trustees has been in existence since 1991. It is therefore well established in the Swiss job market. The AFPE is supported by two organizations: The dual responsible body consists of the Swiss Real Estate Industry Association (SVIT Schweiz) and the Swiss Union of Real Estate Professionals (USPI Suisse)—two long-standing and established players in the real estate industry that are committed to providing a wide range of continuing education programs for well-trained professionals in the real estate sector.

The Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) is one of the continuing education options within higher vocational education and is a federally recognized examination. It leads to a federally recognized diploma (“federal diploma”) and, together with the postgraduate studies CHE, represents the highest level of training in higher vocational education.

The Federal Diploma of Higher Education typically builds upon the Federal Diploma of Higher Education (Federal Professional Examination; FPE). It attests to a high level of professional specialization as well as the ability to manage a business independently. Graduates of the AFPE are in high demand on the Swiss job market due to their practical training.
