Head of Maintenance is now called Head of Facility Management and Maintenance

Facility management and maintenance managers (formerly maintenance managers) can be found in commercial, industrial and service companies such as banks, hospitals or real estate management companies. Technical equipment is being used more and more frequently. This requires professional maintenance.

Facility management and maintenance managers (formerly maintenance managers) have the necessary knowledge and are therefore in high demand on the job market. Their task is to plan and coordinate maintenance work. In addition, they formulate concepts for the process-related organization of maintenance and implement these with their team. To do this as efficiently as possible, they must be familiar with the production processes used.

They make a major contribution to achieving value creation and safety targets by optimizing the availability, productivity and quality of production and operating equipment. In addition to these tasks, maintenance managers are responsible for taking the economic side of their work and occupational safety into account. They are also responsible for controlling. They plan the use of resources, draw up budgets, develop action plans and set up control instruments. As far as the logistical part of their work is concerned, they organize the best possible management of operating resources and spare parts stocks. They are also familiar with contractual law issues such as product liability and warranties. They are also familiar with environmental protection and ensure smooth adaptation within the company.

After successfully completing the federal examination, graduates are now awarded the federally recognized title of "Certified Manager in Facility Management and Maintenance".
