The classical massage training according to EMR method 102 consists of five modules:

• Basic course M1 - 35 hours
• Shoulder, cervical spine, upper extremities M2 - 28 hours
• Lumbar spine, pelvis, lower extremities M3 - 28 hours
• Sports massage, sports injuries M4 - 28 hours
• Treatments for musculoskeletal disorders M5 - 35 hours

These modules can be attended individually or consecutively. They teach the classic massage technique (also known as the Swedish massage technique). To register with the EMR (Empirical Medical Register), massage therapists also require 150 hours of basic medical training. This is usually included in an annual classical massage training course.

Classical massage is also part of the following training courses:

• Health masseur (certificate)
• Therapeutic massage training (EMR method no. 33), formerly professional masseur (certificate)
• Medical masseur (Federal Professional Examination)

The learning content of the classical massage training according to EMR method 102 is as follows:

• Classic body massage with knowledge of the area of application, structure, implementation and effective application
• In-depth knowledge of the structure, function and musculature of the shoulder region of the upper extremities, cervical spine and thoracic spine. Correct palpation of various structures of the musculoskeletal system, performance of heat and cold applications as well as functional and mobilization massages.
• In-depth knowledge of the structure, function and musculature of the hip/pelvic region, lumbar spine and lower extremities. Knowledge of how to correctly perform heat and cold applications as well as functional and mobilization massages.
• In-depth knowledge of muscle functions, knowledge of body functions during sports performance, most common sports injuries and sports damage. Learning to differentiate between training, preparatory, intermediate and success massages. Correct performance of partial massages and competent advice for athletes in matters of pre- and post-sports treatment, injury prevention and injury treatment.
• Learn how to carry out a targeted assessment and massage treatment for musculoskeletal disorders. You will be able to correctly fill in diagnostic forms and carry out written treatment planning.

Classical massage training is a comprehensive massage training course covering all aspects of this type of massage.

In many cases, participants decide on just one massage practice that they would like to learn, such as classic massage, Dorn-Breuss massage, acupuncture massage, reflexology or similar. However, there is also the option of undergoing more extensive training, for example to become a professional masseur or masseuse and learn classic massage, sports massage, foot reflexology, wraps and packs and other special techniques. The course to become a health masseur/health masseuse also enables you to learn different massage techniques.

The prices for training in reflex massage can vary greatly depending on the school and training model, so we cannot give you any definitive information here. It is best to contact the schools you are most interested in directly using our contact form and ask for all the documents you need. Then compare them carefully and don't just look at the price, because unfortunately this doesn't always say anything about the quality of the training. Pay attention to the duration of the training period as well as the actual hours, the content you will be taught and the qualifications and skills you will acquire.
