Of course, the content may vary slightly depending on the focus of the communication training course.

The content of a communication course can be of a very different nature and depends not least on the respective target group. For example, you can learn the basics of conversation techniques, conflict management and avoidance, as well as how to analyze personal communication patterns. Another communication course, on the other hand, can also provide you with voice, telephone and speech training, instruct you in conducting meetings and negotiations, teach you how to negotiate confidently, present yourself with self-assurance and train your rhetoric, use your body language in a targeted manner and react spontaneously. Another seminar may prepare you for argumentative interlocutors during meeting planning, show you how to listen actively, argue better, persuade and send out "I" messages to gain approval. Not every communication improvement course is the same, so you should ask all the providers you are interested in to send you the exact course content and learning objectives so that you can compare them. Choose the communication course that meets your personal expectations and provides you with the skills that you are still lacking, so that such a communication improvement course is actually worthwhile for you. If, on the other hand, you are looking for continuing education, further training in communication in the form of a Federal Professional Examination, Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) or a CAS, DAS or MAS, simply enter the search term "communication" in the search field and you will receive a list of possible communication courses.

Conflict management courses should be attended for the following reasons:

The target groups for the individual communication courses are very different, depending on their focus. For example, communication courses can be aimed at people who are involved in mediating and arbitrating between people, whether privately or professionally, such as mediators or prospective mediators, for employees of public authorities, organizations and departments who have to come into contact with different ethnic, cultural or professional groups of people, for managers who want to speak more eloquently in front of others, for salespeople who want to appear more eloquent on the telephone and in face-to-face conversations, for consultants who want to respond better to customers or team leaders who want to work better together. Please enquire directly with the individual schools about the target groups and requirements for the various communication courses so that you can actually find the communication course that will bring you the optimum benefit in your professional or private life.

As a rule, you will get a lot out of a communication course, provided you engage with what is being said and take an active part in the lessons. You learn in a very practice-oriented way with a series of exercises and role plays, so that you are not just a passive listener, but internalize what you have learned through experience and trial and error. In a communication course, you will be given the skills and knowledge you need to act, lead and intervene in a wide variety of situations in a considered manner without appearing pushy and assertive.

There is certainly also a specific rhetoric course as a communication course, because rhetoric is an important area of communication. The knowledge acquired in the communication course will benefit graduates in negotiations, sales talks, when dealing with colleagues and in their private lives. Afterwards, they will rethink their previous behavior in all areas of life to see if there are differences in how they perceive themselves and how others perceive them. Rhetoric courses as communication courses allow you to recognize potential for improvement in the areas of communication and rhetoric in everyday life. After a communication rhetoric course, you will be able to better assess other people and recognize and react to other people's rhetorical techniques. This leads to a more self-confident appearance and better effectiveness in presentation situations.

You have the option of attending a communication course that only takes 1 or 2 days and in which you learn the basic skills of communication. It is best to choose a weekend seminar so that you don't lose any working time if that is your concern. Otherwise, many courses are also offered in the evenings and extend over several dates. In this way, if you have a little more time available, you can also attend a communication seminar over the course of a few weeks, which will provide you with more thorough training in all aspects of communication and is therefore also ideally suited to your professional work, for example as a therapist, social worker or coach.

In a non-violent communication course you learn:

  • express yourself honestly and clearly while paying attention to the other person
  • Resolve tense situations at work and in everyday life more efficiently
  • change your own automatisms from a pure reaction to a conscious action
  • Pausing and reflecting to develop a needs-oriented language - can be linked to your own communication style

A non-violent communication (NVC) course is suitable for anyone who would like to try it out, with or without previous experience.

Of course, companies can also take a communication course online. Much of the content to be taught, such as the basics of conversation, communication models, communication techniques, coping with challenging communication situations, etc., can also be covered in online lessons. For company-specific seminars in particular, it is important that not too many employees are absent from the workplace due to school-related activities. With an online communication course, everyone can continue their education at a different time. This can then be supplemented by training sessions in small groups to practise communication exercises. Online is therefore certainly a good option for a communication course.
