Learning therapy is help for self-help within a therapeutic setting. This unique concept is based on the assumption that learning and personality influence each other. That is why learning therapy is always future-oriented and sustainable work on the personality.

With this resource-oriented work, learning therapists help children, young people and adults to develop their strengths and work out personal learning paths. As a result, clients will be able to master difficult situations in their private and professional lives in the future.

Questions and answers

In addition to the Bock seminars, prospective learning therapists must expect to complete around 600 hours of homework and regional group work as well as at least 80 hours of work on their own personality within psychotherapy. In order to optimally train participants for professional work in learning therapy, they spend at least 120 hours in learning therapy practice and 50 hours in a learning internship.

The training in learning therapy is recognized by the Swiss Association for Counselling SGfB and can be extended to the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) "Counsellor in the psychosocial field" with a federal diploma.

Learning therapy promotes the personal and behavioral skills of children, adolescents and adults in the learning environment. Unlike private tutors, learning therapists are not solely interested in teaching the necessary learning material, but try to get to the bottom of the causes of existing learning difficulties. They consider the learner as an individual personality and try to find a suitable learning path together. The development of personal and learning skills is therefore the focus of learning therapy. Attention is paid to why and when learning difficulties occur, what they are like, what visible and invisible reactions these difficulties cause in the person concerned and how they deal with them. The aim is to develop strategies for individually appropriate learning.

The entire training to become a learning therapist comprises 1,450 hours. The seminar weeks are spread over a total of three years, after which a diploma thesis is written. After a total of 3.5 years, the course concludes with an oral examination.

The further education course to become a learning therapist consists of around 600 hours of block seminars spread over three years. Five-day block seminars take place four times a year, which means that you have to attend 20 face-to-face seminars per year.
