For trained painters with a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET Diploma), the door to the continuing education, further training "Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training in Painting (AFPE)" is open after five years of professional experience. The five years of professional experience must only be proven at the start of the examination at the end of the preparatory courses. The preparatory courses take two years to complete while working. This means that you can register for this continuing education, further training as early as three years after completing your apprenticeship.

As a master painter, you manage a painting company independently, set up your own painting business or work in a management position in a larger company.
