Medical informatics studies: For medical professionals and computer scientists

For medical professionals and IT specialists who work or would like to work in the field of medical informatics, first-class training has been available for several years to enable them to pursue this career. An MAS in Medical Informatics, for example, is one such course that provides all the necessary knowledge in a well-founded and practice-oriented manner to enable you as a graduate to implement and manage IT projects or departments in the field of medical informatics. The course provides you with broad knowledge in the fields of medicine and informatics and makes you a specialist in your company.

However, depending on your professional and personal workload, this shortening could be extremely demanding, so you should consider this very carefully. After all, you will not only be challenged in terms of time, the content of the Medical Informatics curriculum is also not to be sneezed at. You will acquire knowledge and skills in software product training, quality management, practice information systems, nursing informatics, computer system validation, ECT technology, legal aspects and many other areas.

To be admitted to the Bachelor's degree program in Medical Informatics, applicants need either an apprenticeship with Federal VET Diploma and Federal Vocational Baccalaureate in a related profession or a non-related profession with a one-year internship in a field related to medical informatics. Persons with a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate but without a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate can be admitted to the Federal Vocational Baccalaureate Examination (EBMP) after individual preparation and thus meet the admission requirements for the course. Persons with a Baccalaureate or Specialized Baccalaureate can also be admitted after one year of qualified practical training, as can applicants with a Federal VET Diploma and Advanced Federal Diploma of Higher Education (Achtung: Engl.) and a CHE diploma in a related field.
