Medical basics course: What are the main disadvantages?
After the Medical Basics course, you will be familiar with the physiological and pathological functions of the human body. You will have a solid knowledge of the human body in the areas of anatomy, pathology and physiology for complementary therapy work. You will be familiar with the most common clinical pictures and their treatment from a holistic medical perspective.
Medical basics course - the main disadvantages are:
- The qualification after the Medical Basics course is not federal. However, training courses in basic medical principles that comply with the regulations of the organizations of the working world (OdA) are a building block on the way to a federal final examination in alternative medicine (OdA AT), complementary therapy (OdA KT) or medical masseur / medical masseuse (OdA MM). Find out more about the courses on offer, the qualification and the associated career opportunities.
- At certificate level, the course content and admission requirements are generally not regulated and can be determined autonomously by the schools. In the case of the OdA, however, there are clear regulations and certified training quality.
- The time required for preparation and follow-up work, self-study, practice, learning support and examinations for the basic medical course must be planned for in the private and professional environment.
- Even after completing the Medical Basics course, the learning does not stop: If you want to work as a qualified complementary therapist, you will ideally need to take the higher professional examination (as a complementary therapist with a federal diploma) in addition to training in the chosen therapy method.
With the additional methodological knowledge they have acquired, graduates work as self-employed or employed complementary therapists. The basic medical knowledge ensures that the various forms of therapy are recognized by the health insurance companies and guarantees responsible professional practice.
