A Network Engineering postgraduate studies CHE is a federally recognized qualification from a College of Higher Education. NDS stands for postgraduate studies and CHE for College of Higher Education. A postgraduate studies CHE is therefore a postgraduate degree course from a College of Higher Education. Such a degree is particularly suitable for engineers and technicians who want to continue their education in a specific field, but for whom a short course is too superficial and a complete bachelor's degree too extensive. However, an NDS HF requires a higher qualification, a Federal Professional Examination (FPE), an Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE), a diploma from a College of Higher Education or a University of Applied Sciences.

Postgraduate studies in Higher Education are continuing education, Vocational Education and Training courses that build on a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET Diploma), while postgraduate studies in Higher Education are postgraduate studies. This requires a higher professional qualification, such as a federal certificate, a diploma from a technical school TS, College of Higher Education, Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) or an equivalent qualification.
