Experience in nursing, healthcare or social services is not necessary to attend the nursing assistant course. The course is aimed at beginners as well as those returning to the profession and private individuals who, for personal reasons, wish to be trained in the care of people in need of assistance.

Nursing assistant training takes place both on weekdays and on Saturdays. This means that you can generally pursue your professional activity, although a temporary reduction in your workload may be advisable. As the course days are known well in advance, you can plan ahead and inform your employer or seek a solution with them.

The basic nursing assistant course consists of a theoretical part of 120 hours or lessons and a nursing internship of 12 to 15 days. Overall, training to become a nursing assistant takes a few months. The training institute of your choice will be happy to provide you with more information.

The following points are required for admission to continuing education, further training and certification as a nursing assistant:

• Minimum age 18 years
• German language skills at level B2 as well as understanding the Swiss dialect
• Good physical, mental and psychological health
