The solar technology training to become a solar technician is aimed at people who have completed vocational training (at least Federal VET Diploma), preferably in the field of building envelopes or building technology. It is primarily aimed at tradespeople from the construction, wood, electrical, metal and mechanical engineering sectors, plumbers, roofers, heating, electrical and plumbing installers.

A solar technology installer (solar technician) is an expert in the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of solar thermal and photovoltaic systems, which he can assess and optimize in terms of energy efficiency. He also informs and advises customers and interested persons and bodies about the possibilities of solar technology systems and their feasibility.
