Language study trip to London / England

Why did you decide to spend a language study trip in England?

I really wanted to improve my English language skills, especially my speaking skills. Although we learned a lot at school, we didn't really have much opportunity to use our knowledge. So I always felt a bit insecure when I had to speak in English.

In which country and in which city did your language study trip take place?

I went to London, the capital of Great Britain, for my language study trip.

How did you like England and London?

London is a diverse city with many different sights and entertainment options. The city has a large number of parks, museums and theaters that are well worth a visit. With the famous shopping street Oxford Street and the huge department store Harrods, London is also a popular place for shopping. I really liked the different neighborhoods with their different characters. The train journeys to other English cities have left me with memories of the beautiful natural landscape.

When did you complete the language study trip? How long did it last?

In 2015, I did a language study trip in my gap year after cantonal school and went to London for 3 months.

How satisfied were you with your language study trip to England? What did you particularly like?

I was very satisfied. On the one hand, I was able to greatly improve my language skills, and on the other, I made some very good friends from other countries with whom I am still in contact. We also visited each other after the language course and went on trips together.

What did the language study trip do for you personally and for your career?

I am currently studying at university and the English language is extremely important in my studies. No matter what subject you're studying, a solid knowledge of English is almost always required. For example, the factual texts you have to read are usually in English. If you don't understand them, you will have a lot of difficulties.

What tips would you give to anyone interested in a language study trip?

I think that a language study trip is one of the best options to get to know a country and its culture better and to learn the local language. If you have the opportunity, you should do a language study trip for a longer period of time (over 3 months).

Which language study abroad providers have you registered with?

I booked my language study trip through Wamo Globetrotter Schaffhausen.

How satisfied were you with this provider?

I was very satisfied with Wamo Globetrotter. Although I was a little late in booking the language study trip, the advisors were very friendly and organized everything for me as quickly as possible.
