Language school Spain: Barcelona, Madrid or Seville.

The idea of learning a completely new language so that they can use their knowledge on vacation or at work is so appealing to many people that they enroll in a language school. This is possible in almost all major cities in Switzerland. However, attending a language school in Switzerland where you can learn Spanish is not comparable to attending a language school in Spain.

A language school in Spain allows you to learn where you can use the language straight away and have the opportunity to talk to the locals. When looking for a suitable language school in Spain, you should consider which areas you prefer. Would you like a language school in Spain by the sea, in a large city, on an island or in the countryside? It's best to find out about the latest offers and courses directly from the language school in question. This will give you an initial overview.

At www.ausbildung-weiterbildung.ch you will find some of these language schools, which will be happy to send you a no-obligation brochure with their offers. Compare the individual schools and then decide on the language school in Spain that meets your expectations.

Questions and answers

Which language course you choose at a language school in Spain depends primarily on your wishes, goals, time and budget. Standard language courses are offered everywhere, which are aimed at people who want to acquire basic knowledge but still have enough free time to indulge in various leisure activities. With around 20 lessons of 45 to 60 minutes, this is perfectly possible. If this is still too many Spanish lessons per day for you, some language schools also offer Spanish courses with a smaller number of lessons, such as 15 lessons per week. These courses can either be booked separately or in combination with certain leisure activities, such as diving, sailing, golf or cooking. Many prospective language students opt for intensive language courses, in which you learn Spanish faster in around 30 weekly lessons than in conventional language courses. In addition to these types of language courses, there are also courses that are aimed at specific target groups or pursue a very specific goal. These include business courses, which train participants in general business Spanish and also prepare them for business diplomas. On the other hand, you won't find a language school in Spain that teaches you specific language skills for certain industries, such as Spanish for lawyers, Spanish for tourism or Spanish for medical professionals, in every city. If you are interested, it is advisable to contact the language school provider directly and ask about suitable offers.you can attend diploma preparation courses for the various Spanish language diplomas, such as the DELE, at almost every Spanish language school. Individual lessons can also usually be organized, as well as combination courses consisting of individual lessons and group courses. In addition, more and more organizers are also offering language courses directly at the language teacher's home.
It is of course important that the location of the school you choose is in a city that suits you or your child. The city and area in which the language school in Spain is located should offer variety and short trips to neighboring cities or towns should be possible. Also pay attention to the following points:
  • Reputation and experience of the language school
  • Experience of the teaching staff in teaching Spanish as a foreign language
  • Training and continuing education, further training of teaching staff
  • Location of the Spanish school
  • Furnishing and equipment of the school
  • Accommodation and meals
  • Distance and accessibility of the school from your accommodation
  • Distance to sights and possibly the beach
  • Course types
  • Special courses
  • Teaching content
  • Class size
  • Teaching units and duration
  • Leisure activities at the Spanish school
  • Costs and services
  • Discounts
  • Arrival and transfer
  • Teaching materials
  • School report or exams
You can also find more information on this in the guide "How to choose the right education provider" (see navigation point "Education help" above).
As a rule, you will need to bring your own writing materials for Spanish courses. This means that you should bring a writing pad, pens and, ideally, flashcards for learning vocabulary. Buying these on site means that you will not have any materials with you on the first day of class, usually on Mondays, which is a disadvantage. A dictionary is also recommended, as well as a grammar booklet in which you will find the most important grammar rules. At a language school in Spain, you will usually receive all of the teaching materials on the first day of your course, which you will use to study in the following weeks. The costs for these materials are either to be paid directly on site or are already included in the course costs. Clarify this before you book.
When preparing for a stay at a language school in Spain, always remember that you should plan some time in advance to ensure that you actually get the course and accommodation you want. Especially in the summer vacation months and for diploma courses, interest is very high and many offers are often fully booked months in advance. Accommodation that is close to the school or in another interesting location, such as directly on the river or in the old town, is also very popular and therefore booked up early. If you have specific expectations of your language study trip to Spain that you would like to have fulfilled, it is advisable to register up to six months before the start of your Spanish course. For those who are less picky, it is advisable to register up to six weeks before the start of the course, also to ensure that flights are still available at the required time.
Learning a new language doesn't happen overnight, but there are a few ways to learn the language effectively and, above all, in a shorter space of time. This can be done in an intensive course, which you can attend at a language school in Spain almost anywhere. Such a course usually has 30 lessons per week, which means that you have Spanish lessons for around 6 hours per day. Some schools also offer extra intensive courses, where the number of lessons increases to varying degrees.
In addition to choosing an intensive Spanish course, the type of accommodation you choose will also determine how much you speak Spanish and use what you've learned alongside your lessons. A host family is undoubtedly the most beneficial type of accommodation, as you will be forced to communicate in Spanish and will be able to use your knowledge in a wide variety of everyday situations.
In some cities in Spain, you also have the option of being taught directly at the teacher's home, where you also live. You don't go to a language school in Spain, but receive language lessons from your host father or mother, who are trained language teachers and provide you with individual support. This option is particularly ideal for people who want to learn English quickly. It enables you to achieve your first visible successes in a very short time, as you communicate with your teacher throughout the day and they can correct and support you on an ongoing basis.
