How are the insurance brokerage courses structured? How long do they last and how much do they cost?

Advanced course in insurance brokerage

The insurance brokerage training courses have a modular structure. The modules can usually also be booked individually, and relevant previous knowledge is usually taken into account. Individual training centers offer different courses for lateral entrants (without knowledge or experience in the insurance industry) and for professionals (with knowledge and/or experience).

Instruction takes place as classroom instruction or as "blended learning" (web-supported self-study alternating with classroom instruction). Most insurance brokerage courses also include web-based training opportunities, self-tests and intermediate examinations.

After successfully completing all modules, participants take the VBV examination, which consists of a written and an oral part.

Course duration and course costs

• Classroom courses in insurance brokerage comprise 14-17 course days (spread over around 3 months) and cost around CHF 4,700-4,900.
• Blended-learning courses (with approx. 10 days of classroom instruction) cost approx. CHF 4,000-4,200.
• Shortened courses for participants with insurance knowledge and experience usually comprise 7 days in 5-6 weeks and cost around CHF 2,500.
• The prices for individual modules depend on the number of lessons or days. 1 day costs approx. CHF 300-350.

Further costs

• The costs for teaching materials are included in some insurance brokerage courses, but are additional for others.
