As a federally recognized university of applied sciences, Fernfachhochschule Schweiz (FFHS) has been offering part-time Bachelor's and Master's degree courses as well as continuing education courses since 1998. With over 20 years of experience in distance learning, it is the leading e-university in Switzerland and an alternative for students who want to combine work, family and studies.

FFHS offers degree programs in the blended learning model: 80% of your studies are completed in guided self-study via an online learning platform, 20% takes place as face-to-face teaching at one of the four campuses (Zurich, Basel, Bern or Brig).

In addition, FFHS also offers virtual classes for individual training and further education courses.
This is a new form of teaching that perfects location-independent study.

Important! This is explicitly a hybrid form and not a purely virtual class: some of the students and lecturers are on site, while other students take part online at the same time.

Admission to the CAS Contract Law is open to anyone with several years of qualified professional experience and a tertiary qualification (Federal Diploma of Higher Education, Advanced Federal Diploma of Higher Education, HFP diploma, HF diploma, Universities diploma). A "sur dossier" admission is possible for persons without these qualifications but with extensive relevant professional experience.

The Certificate of Advanced Studies in Trade and Contract Law is aimed at non-lawyers who want to deal with complex legal problems in trade and contract law and learn the legal craft, including how to draft their own contracts.

The Swiss Distance-Learning University of Applied Sciences indicates a possible professional activity during the continuing education, further training in Trade & Contract Law of 80 to 100%. This is realistic, as 80% of the CAS is self-study and only 20% is face-to-face teaching, which takes place every second Saturday.

The CAS Contract & Trade Law certificate course consists of three courses:

  • Contract law
  • Practical contract drafting
  • Commercial law

Obligations, General Contract Law, Formation of Contracts, Performance Disruptions in Contracts, Business-Related Aspects of General Contract Law, Selected Nominative and Innominative Contracts and International Contract Law Contract law, selected nominative and innominate contracts as well as international contract law, contracts for work and services, purchase contracts, orders, rental contracts, leasing contracts, franchising contracts, license agreements, guarantee agreements, credit agreements, loans, UN sales law, articles of association and limited liability companies, commercial registers, business companies, company law, legal entities under the Swiss Civil Code, restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, civil procedure law, debt collection, bankruptcy and other topics are covered by the CAS Trade and Contract Law at FFHS.

The further education course in Contract Law lasts one semester and takes place every two weeks on Saturdays. The three modules comprise a total of 60 lessons as well as a written examination in each module, resulting in a workload of around 450 hours including self-study.
