Handicraft teacher training - how to become a specialist teacher for art and textiles
Do you have a big heart for art, design, textiles and handicrafts and would you like to pass on your passion to children and young people? Could you imagine working as a specialist teacher for needlework lessons at a Waldorf or Rudolf Steiner school with classes from Year 1 to Year 8? Do you already have some knowledge and experience in textile techniques and have you completed an upper secondary school education? Then a three-year part-time training course as a specialist teacher for needlework lessons might be the right decision to turn your hobby and passion into a career. In this professional activity, you have the incomparably wonderful opportunity to pass on your love of handicrafts to children and motivate them to become creative.
The handicraft teacher training course requires a time investment of half a day of classroom instruction and half a day of self-study per week and is therefore very compatible with a professional activity. In addition, two weekends per course are planned for school projects. The handicraft teacher training course is the ideal pedagogical and methodological-didactic equipment for future teaching activities. You will learn how to professionally accompany children on their developmental journey from play to work and will be equipped to support their individual learning steps.
During the first two years of needlework teacher training, folders and portfolios are created which serve as lesson documentation. These, together with the presentation of a partial lesson, represent the conclusion of the two-year training program. There are no lessons in the third year, but there are internships at schools and further work shadowing. The diploma thesis with a practical part, written elaboration and presentation forms the culmination of the further training to become a needlework teacher.
