Building on the federal certificate in real estate marketing, there are various continuing education, further training courses offered by schools in the real estate industry, such as clerk courses, but also seminars and training courses. In addition, it is possible to take an Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) and obtain a federal diploma, such as a certified fiduciary expert, certified facility management manager or certified real estate trustee. It may also be possible to attend a College of Higher Education or a University of Applied Sciences.

A real estate marketer performs the following tasks:

  • Management of a team in the area of real estate marketing
  • Preparation of market analyses and real estate marketing concepts, definition of communication measures and property-specific implementation
    • Determining the sales value of the property
    • Marketing the property and dealing with the authorities
    • Organization of viewing appointments
    • Regular reports on the sales status
    • Drawing up the purchase contract
    • Property handover as a real estate marketer
  • Necessary social skills to conduct negotiations and consultations in a targeted manner
    • Conducting contract negotiations
    • Accompaniment to the notary appointment
    • Advice after the sale
  • Marketing of commercial space, individual and investment properties

One of the following qualifications is required for admission to the Federal Professional Examination in Real Estate Marketing:

  • At least 3 years of vocational education and training, high school diploma, federally recognized commercial diploma, degree from a College of Higher Education, Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE), higher professional examination, university or equivalent qualification
  • At least 3 years of full-time work experience in a profession in the real estate industry after completing the training

or

  • 5 years of full-time professional experience in a profession in the real estate industry, including at least 2 years in Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein

and

  • no entries in the criminal record that contradict the purpose of the audit

Preparation for the federal professional examination (BP) to become a real estate marketer with a federal certificate is very extensive. The preparation for the Federal Professional Certificate in Real Estate Marketing is very comprehensive and includes legal topics such as personnel law, family law, property law, limited rights in rem, possession and ownership, land register, Code of Obligations, securing performance, Swiss Code of Civil Procedure, Swiss tax system, value added tax on real estate, basic construction technology, environmental planning and construction law, introduction to marketing, market research, procurement marketing, sales marketing, presentation and communication techniques, property sales with process, property valuation, financing, property sales from a legal perspective, property trading from a tax perspective.

The following examination subjects are included in the real estate marketer training:

  • Oral examination:

Continuing education, further training as a real estate marketer currently costs around CHF 10,000 to 12,500. SVIT members receive a discount of around CHF 800, but there are also individual providers with even lower prices. Make a good comparison and also check which services are included.

Real estate marketer training with a professional examination is generally designed as in-service training that allows participants to continue working full-time or at a reduced workload. The courses often take place two evenings a week, either in the afternoon and on Saturdays or on a full day during the week.
