How long does the continuing education, further training to become a "Job Coach Work Integration" (FPE) take and how much does it cost?

Duration and procedure

  • The preparatory courses to become a job coach can be completed on a part-time basis.
  • They have a modular structure and usually last 2-3 semesters.
  • The courses comprise between 144 and 162 lessons.
  • The lessons usually take place one day a week.
  • If at least 16 candidates meet the admission requirements, the professional examination for job coaches takes place once a year (otherwise every two years). The examination can be taken in one of the three official languages German, French or Italian.

Costs

  • The fees for the preparation course are around CHF 7,000 to CHF 8,000.
  • The examination fee is currently (2022) CHF 2,900. It is set by the body responsible for the examination regulations, the Swiss Association for Work Education and Job Coaching.
  • The fee for the certificate and registration in the SERI register for certificate holders is CHF 50.
  • Many providers charge additional costs for training documents or teaching materials. For detailed information on costs, please contact the provider of your choice directly.
  • Since 2018, graduates of preparatory courses for the federal professional examination (BP) and the higher professional examination (HFP) have been reimbursed up to half of the course costs paid by the federal government upon application, regardless of the result.More information can be found here.
