Emergency psychology - professional support for people after trauma

Potentially traumatizing events require professional emergency psychological assistance for those affected and their mental health. Emergency personnel are usually the first point of contact for those affected during or after a traumatic event. It is therefore very helpful if they have emergency psychological skills.

After an accident or after people have been confronted with shocking news, they absolutely need someone with professional expertise in dealing with those affected. A course on emergency psychology provides participants with basic skills for dealing with potentially traumatized people. The emergency psychology course provides in-depth knowledge about grief reactions, the delivery of bad news, psychotraumatology, possible interventions and handling methods. Participants learn about the possibilities and limits of social support in emergency situations and acquire support and conversation skills. The course also addresses topics such as empathy, fear, self-protection and mental hygiene. Courses on emergency psychology are usually peppered with practical exercises and are very practice-oriented.
