I decided to go on a language study trip because I was completing the passerelle to university after my vocational baccalaureate and wanted/needed to refresh and improve my English skills.
My language study trip took place in Bournemouth, England.
I completed my language study trip in the summer of 2015, which lasted 5 weeks.
I really enjoyed my language study trip to England and was particularly happy with my host mother. The school was very well organized. What I didn't like so much, however, was that there were lots of groups (by country) at the school, so it wasn't very easy to make contact with classmates from other countries.
I had less trouble in the Passerelle and especially now in my studies, as I have a lot of lectures and internships in English. Another important point for me is that I have fewer inhibitions when speaking, which was a big obstacle before the language study trip.
My top tips for prospective students are to do a language study trip without colleagues and for at least three months. As I was only there for five weeks, I did an intensive course, which meant that I also had school in the afternoons and therefore couldn't do very much with friends. I think it's very important to do as much as possible with the other students at the language school and to speak the foreign language.
I signed up through Westbourne Academy.
I was very satisfied because I got a very good host mother and I could always turn to the agency if I had any problems. The agency organized my entire outward journey, including transport from the airport to Bournemouth.
