I decided to go on a language study trip because I wanted to improve my English. Not just for school, but also for my future. After all, English is one of the most important languages in the world.
The city is called Bournemouth and is located in the south of England.
That was in the summer of 2016 from July 9 to August 6. So I was there for four weeks. My school allowed me to go on the language study trip a week before the official school vacations.
I really enjoyed it and I can recommend it to anyone. I especially liked the fact that I had to speak English everywhere I went, not just at school. I adapted to my environment and so I learned faster. I had lots of new experiences and became very independent during this time. For me (16) it was the first time that I had been away from home for such a long time.
It's much easier for me to speak spontaneously and I no longer have to think about how to say something in English first. I have also learned a lot of new vocabulary that I would probably never have learned at school, for example idioms and colloquialisms. I can now participate more actively in lessons at school because I feel more confident.
I think it's important that the language course lasts at least three weeks. Because at the beginning I was quite shy and didn't speak much. The longer you are in one place, the more comfortable you feel and the more you speak. It's also important to take part in social activities offered by the school, because that's how you get to know new people.
I registered with the Swiss agency Westbourne Academy GmbH and can highly recommend them. Ms. Scherer has a lot of experience and knows the school personally.
I was very satisfied. Everything was well organized and planned in advance and I received all the most important documents. It was also very reassuring for me that Katrin Scherer would have been available at any time if I had needed her help.
