To be eligible to take the final examination, you must either have a Federal VET Diploma from an apprenticeship of at least three years in the motorcycle, agricultural machinery, bodywork or automotive industry and at least two years of professional experience plus one year as a road assistant, or have a Federal VET Diploma or equivalent qualification and at least three years' professional experience in the relevant sector and at least one year's experience as a road assistant, or, without one of these qualifications, have at least seven years' professional experience as a road assistant in the relevant specialization (breakdown assistance / accident assistance). In addition, all must have completed towing service training or continuing education, further training with the required modules or a certificate of equivalence.

There is a towing service training or continuing education, which serves as preparation for the Federal Professional Examination (FPE) for road assistants with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education.
