The vocational baccalaureate complements the advantages of basic vocational training, i.e. the job-specific knowledge and specific skills, with those of extended basic training.
What does that mean in concrete terms? In addition to mathematics, the basic subjects include two national languages and another foreign language, for example English in addition to German and French. The additional knowledge in these subjects will enhance your ability to act, regardless of whether you have been trained as a goldsmith, vehicle mechatronics technician or in business. This will also give you confidence in dealing with partner companies, customers and the public.
A lot of emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary work in the "Berufsmaturität" course. For project tasks, you will have to develop interdisciplinary solutions together with fellow students from other subject areas.
The vocational baccalaureate courses are available in five specializations:
In addition to the basic subjects, which are the same for all specializations, the curriculum consists of focus areas and supplementary areas in which you acquire in-depth knowledge specific to your profession. You can create your own individual profile by choosing a targeted combination of supplementary subjects and thus prepare yourself for certain specialized jobs.
