Job coaches take on diverse and very responsible tasks in supporting people whose access to or retention in the labor market is difficult for various reasons. Their services include not only support and guidance, but also motivational activities, for example when a client has already lost the courage and confidence to ever find paid work again or to be able to do so.
The job of a job coach is therefore very meaningful, because having a job is not only a prerequisite for a secure income, but also enables people to find their place in society and participate in public life in a self-determined way.
Job coaches use basic coaching approaches in their work. This means that coach and client (so-called coachees) meet at eye level. Coaches do not support and accompany their coachees by presenting them with ready-made solutions, but work out these together with their coachees. In this way, they promote their self-empowerment, which is an extremely sustainable method.
