The daily flood of information leads to individuals consciously and unconsciously blocking out information and advertising. This makes it increasingly difficult for advertisers to attract the attention of customers. New approaches and innovative solutions are therefore needed to ensure that messages and products still reach the relevant target groups. This aspect, which is central to a company's success, calls for creative minds such as communication designers HF. With their strategic-conceptual skills and creative-visual abilities, they are able to create messages through the visual design of information that consumers can immediately understand and sustainably absorb.
The HF course has been in existence since 2010 - currently under the name "Kommunikationsdesigner/in HF" (previously also known as "Visuelle Gestalter/in HF", (discontinued in 2021) and "Gestalter/in HF Kommunikationsdesign, Vertiefungsrichtung", (discontinued in 2022)). It is therefore well established on the job market.
Schools that offer such a course are guided by the so-called "Communication Design" framework curriculum of 24.10.22. This was drawn up by the professional associations Swiss Graphic Designers Association (SGV), Swiss Graphic Designers (SGD), viscom, Swiss Professional Photographers and Film Designers (SBF) and the Swiss Design Schools (SDS) and approved by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation. It is also continuously reviewed and updated by them. This ensures that the high and current relevance to the job market is guaranteed - a quality assurance that employers greatly appreciate.
Graduates of HF courses are sought after on the job market as they have practical generalist knowledge as well as specific skills in their specialist area. With this mix, they are able to carry out specialist and management tasks at lower to middle management level.
