Management coaching: How to climb the career ladder

A leadership coach conducts coaching sessions with managers. This leadership coaching is about critically reflecting on one's own work and dealings with employees and thus developing them further. In this way, the leadership coach helps managers to help themselves, as they use targeted questions to find the right solution for them.

Coaching, supervision and organizational consulting are often used together as terms in the definition of coaching, although each of these approaches is a different consulting format. What they all have in common is the basis of process consulting, which focuses on consulting in the professional and working field. Coaching is primarily aimed at individuals who want to reflect on and initiate their position in their profession, their future career path, their current role, their performance, leadership skills and possible approaches to change. However, it can also be carried out as team or group coaching and in this case is usually commissioned by the superiors or employers of the people to be coached (coachees). The objectives vary greatly depending on the company, but usually revolve around improving performance, further development or change management.
However, by coaching definition, leadership coaching is not the only form of this consulting format, although it is defined by the Professional Association for Coaching, Supervision and Organizational Consulting (bso) primarily for the professional and working world. In addition, there are a large number of specialized coaches and consultants who focus on very different areas, such as stress coaching, personality coaching or learning coaching, integral coaching or life coaching.

Leadership coaching is important. Leadership coaching has the following advantages for managers (and therefore also for companies):

• A good impact factor is achieved through support, confrontation and feedback

Thanks to leadership coaching, managers can better cope with typical situations or problems such as taking up a management position, young managers, female managers, changes from specialist to manager, current problems or conflicts in the team. Leadership coaching can be highly individualized and is very beneficial for many managers.
