What are the benefits of the HRSE certificate? How does the degree differ with or without the HRSE certificate?

  • HR Specialist with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education (Federal Professional Examination with Various Specializations: Corporate HR Management, Public Recruitment and Consulting, Private Recruitment and Staffing)
  • Head of Human Resources (male) / Head of Human Resources (female) with a Swiss Federal Diploma (Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE))

While federal certifications—such as HR specialists with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education—require vocational education and training (VET) (Federal VET Diploma, high school diploma, vocational Matura, or an equivalent qualification), the HRSE certificate for HR assistants, and relevant professional experience, the HR Assistant training program leading to the HRSE certificate is generally open to anyone with general professional and/or internship experience.

The HR Assistant training program, which leads to an HRSE certificate, provides an ideal foundation of knowledge and is therefore well-suited for those returning to the workforce (for example, after maternity leave, an accident, or illness) or for those looking to transition into a new field.

Graduating with or without an HRSE certificate—what's the difference?

Non-formal continuing education courses typically conclude with a certificate issued by the school itself. Depending on the situation, it may be possible to have the certificate recognized by industry and professional associations after completing the course, or to earn an external credential, such as an HRSE certificate. In such cases, the course leading to the school’s own certificate often serves as preparation for the HRSE exam.

  • School-Issued Certificate:The school-issued certificate is the most common type of credential offered in non-formal further training. Because a course leading to a school-issued certificate is not regulated by federal law and can, in principle, be designed and offered by anyone, the course content (topics, as well as their breadth and depth), target audience, admission requirements, duration, costs, and delivery methods may vary from provider to provider. Nevertheless, school-issued certificates can be highly beneficial and career-enhancing—for example, in the field of industry-specific continuing education, further training.
  • HRSE Certificate:The HRSE certificates are endorsed by relevant industry and professional associations, in close collaboration with leading players in the HR sector. The exam content is officially defined in the examination regulations/guidelines, and the final exams are centrally organized by the HRSE and graded according to uniform guidelines (grading scale). As a result, the certificates are well-established and highly regarded by employers.
