What are the main disadvantages of payroll training / payroll accounting?

After payroll training / payroll accounting, you will know the basics of social insurance in connection with payroll accounting. After basic training, you will prepare payroll statements in compliance with formal guidelines. Payroll accountants apply the wage-related provisions of employment law. Advanced courses are available for continuing education, further training.

The main disadvantages of payroll training / payroll accounting are:

  1. The payroll training / payroll accounting qualification is not federally recognized; it is a school's own diploma/certificate or the edupool.ch association certificate.
  2. At certificate level, the course content and admission requirements are generally not regulated. They can be determined autonomously by the schools. Association certificates, on the other hand, are regulated. When choosing a course, make sure that it supports your professional goals.
  3. A job in payroll accounting requires not only a precise way of working but also a flair for figures, enjoyment of administrative work and a high sense of responsibility. Not all of these skills can be acquired as part of a payroll training program.
  4. The training costs of CHF 1,200 to CHF 3,600 for basic or continuing education, further training to become a specialist are not subsidized by the federal government, as no federal examinations are taken. In addition, there is the double burden of in-service training, which lasts around three to twelve months.
  5. The learning usually doesn't stop after the payroll training: If you want to take on a qualified job in finance and accounting, you should perhaps still take the Federal Professional Examination in this field.

 

After payroll training / payroll accounting, as a payroll manager you will carry out the basic payroll accounting tasks independently, while payroll specialists and payroll experts take on more demanding payroll accounting activities or the entire payroll accounting and personnel administration. They are responsible for payroll and social security accounting, including withholding tax. You will be familiar with the relevant legislation and IT systems.
