Stress coaches are coaches with a specialization. In principle, coaches accompany their clients (known as coachees) on their journey in various areas of life and situations. In coaching sessions, the stress coach supports and advises their coachees without presenting them with a solution in advance. Instead, the stress coach promotes self-help skills.
Stress coaches work with people who suffer from stress. They usually coach them in individual sessions with the aim of finding a healthy way of dealing with stress. To do this, the coach and coachee work together to develop a personal stress management strategy. This individual stress and self-management strategy usually includes various everyday relaxation methods and movement exercises, for example from yoga, autogenic training or meditation. The aim is to strengthen resilience.
As a stress coach, the aim is to break through entrenched patterns of thought and behavior. Sources of stress, such as stress at work or in private life, should be perceived more consciously; the coachees should learn to deal with stressful situations in a more organized way, to clearly distance themselves from them and to relax. This can prevent them from being overwhelmed by stress and the consequences of exhaustion such as burn-out.
Stress coaches are usually self-employed and offer their coaching services to private individuals or companies. A stress coach can also be employed by a consulting firm that focuses on coaching activities.
